Description

Summary

Currently, in Brave’s keyboard shortcuts, you can only enable or disable the bookmarks bar globally. However, there is a third option, available via the bookmarks bar context menu or appearance menu: to show bookmarks only on the new tab page.

It would be very useful to have a keyboard shortcut to toggle this specific mode (“Show bookmarks only on new tab page”), as is already possible for the other two options (always on / always off).

Reason

This would allow users to quickly switch between all three bookmarks bar visibility states using the keyboard without having to navigate to the brave://settings/appearance page.

  • It would provide feature parity between the menu options and the available shortcuts.
  • Power users and those who rely heavily on keyboard navigation would strongly benefit from this addition.
  • It's an implementation that includes all possible options, at a design level, it's a clear improvement.

Who and Where

I tested the shortcut already present in my up-to-date Brave browser: Brave 1.79.126 (Official Build) (64-bit) Chromium: 137.0.7151.119

I did some research to verify if the shortcut exists, and now I'm here to open this improvement.

Thank you for watching this request! Best regards, Luca
